Spiraling Flowers

Tessellated flowers and leaves are arranged in a pattern with eight-fold rotational symmetry (four-fold if color is considered). Selective coloring of the outer and inner portions of the flowers brings out sets of counter-rotating spirals. The design is a fractal with a lone singular point at the center, since zooming in repeatedly about the center reveals similar structure at any magnification. "Spiraling Flowers" is a digital artwork completed in September of 2011.

Digital art print with an Escher-like tessellation of flowers and leaves.
