Marathon

This print depicts a runner progressing to the finish line of a race. The design was commissioned for the 2004 Chicago Marathon. The style is a tessellation metamorphosis similar to those made famous by Escher in prints such as "Day and Night" (1938). A figure/ground reversal takes place in the print, with black runners perceived on a white background at left, and white runners on a black background at right. A stylized tessellation of two runners forms the center portion of the metamorphosis. "Marathon" is a limited edition of 25 digital prints completed in 2004. The image size is approximately 4-1/2" x 12".

Digital art print with an Escher-like tessellation of runners morphing from starting position to finish line.
